Sustainability
At Viñedos Patricio Butrón, we understand that producing wines of excellence also entails a commitment to the environment, the soil, and the communities. Our sustainable approach runs through the entire production process, integrating responsible practices both in caring for the environment and in the efficient use of resources.
Our sustainable approach
Our sustainable approach spans the entire production process, integrating responsible practices both in caring for the environment and in the efficient use of resources.
- Responsible water management
- We reuse treated water from the winery to irrigate our vineyards at the Los Lirios estate.
- We capture 100% of rainfall as part of our irrigation system.
- At the El Peumal estate, 50% of irrigation is done without electricity, thanks to a gravity-fed system that reduces our energy footprint.
-
Circular economy in the vineyard
- 100% of the organic waste from the grape harvest is turned into compost.
- This compost is applied as organic matter in our vineyards and cherry orchards, naturally closing the production cycle.
- Sustainable agriculture
- We implement Integrated Pest and Weed Management, with identification and selective control.
- We prioritize green‑label (low-toxicity) products.
- We preserve natural areas that serve as refuges for beneficial fauna and natural pest enemies.
- Living soil ecosystem
- We implement a Soil Management Plan to prevent erosion and compaction.
- We use vegetative cover between rows to improve the soil’s physical and biological conditions.
- We conduct periodic nutritional monitoring of the vineyard and prefer natural fertilization.
- Energy efficiency and safety
- We have assessments and continuous improvement plans for water and energy use.
- Our staff are trained in the responsible handling of machinery, agricultural products, and health and safety protocols.
